Hi Els, Nice album! I particularly like your Polar Bears. I find them so difficult to photograph and difficult to find in zoos here in the US. Greetings from Florida, Paul. Thank you for your kind words on my Large Cats album months ago. I had been away and had not been able to get back to you earlier. As to your words: I try to photograph zoo animals close up, so that their eyes appear clear, shinny and preferably looking right into the camera. With large predators, it gives the viewer a mixture of intimacy and a little fear. My secret is that I shoot a lot, maybe 300 frames in a single visit to the zoo. The vast majority of those I discard and nobody gets to see. I keep maybe 1 in 10. By the way, I read once that the good photographers just get lucky a little bit more often that the others and they are merciless in discarding the not quite perfect pictures.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment in my guest book;))Yes it's amazing to watch the interaction in the troupe of monkeys and to see how they take care of the little baby;))I still haven't thought of a name for him yet..i want something really special cause he's the first baby to be born in my care and have 2 more mommy's expecting.They will all be released back into the wild within the next year which is going to be so hard but i know in my heart that they belong free in the wild.I love your zoo album!! and hope to see more pics from you.Your Rats must be so cute..i remember having a little mouse as a child and i absolutely adored him:))Lynn,South Africa.
