And here is approximately how it should look like when polar aligned. The bottom board is inclined so that the hinge points to the North Celestial Pole (approximately to Polaris, the Pole star). The camera will most probably be used to take exposures of the sky near the celestial equator, though other declinations are not ruled out either. And I'm going to need a sturdier tripod (preferably with spikes in its feet) of the kind that will keep the camera stable even in a mild breeze. (Picture taken via a cell-phone camera.)
