Album Info:

I had originally considered fashioning my own camera ball head using a doll's head (from any craft store) and some PVC plumbing. However, later I decided to purchase a cheap mini ball head first. These ball heads are available from your local camera store. I got the "Giottos MH 1004" mini ball head from Amazon for $13. The Giottos head is rated for a capacity of a measly 2Kg. My concern is whether it will be able to handle the weight of a camera+lens when the head itself will be angled at, say, 40 degrees to the horizontal. There is one other problem with mounting this directly onto the top board. The tightening knob is too close to the bottom and can't be rotated if the bottom of the ball head is flush with a surface. This means some sort of 'base' to raise the ball head is necessary.
