Iceland is a Nordic island country located in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is known for its stunning natural landscapes, including geysers, hot springs, waterfalls, volcanoes, and glaciers. The capital and largest city is Reykjavik. Iceland has a population of around 360,000 people and is one of the most sparsely populated countries in Europe. The official language is Icelandic, and the currency is the Icelandic krona. The country has a rich cultural history, with traditional Icelandic sagas dating back to the Viking Age. Iceland is also known for its modern music scene, with many popular bands and artists hailing from the country. Iceland is a popular tourist destination, known for its outdoor activities such as hiking, glacier tours, and whale watching. The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa is a famous attraction, as well as the Golden Circle route which takes visitors to several of Iceland's natural wonders. The economy of Iceland is largely based on fishing, tourism, and renewable energy sources such as geothermal and hydropower. The country is also known for its progressive environmental policies, and is one of the most sustainable nations in the world.
